The Ethos group in our school meet to discuss and take part in a range of activities. These range from contributing towards wider projects from the Church Wigan hub to organising charity events to support good causes. |
Last year the Ethos Group raised a total of £447.62 for local, national and global charities including Daffodils Dreams, Macmillan and Water Aid.
This year the children held a Macmillan bake sale and raised a total of £256.24.
Furthermore, the Ethos Group and School Council remain vigilant and responsive to worldwide emergencies, coordinating efforts to mobilise support during crises. This proactive approach not only fosters a sense of global citizenship among our children but also allows them to actively participate in meaningful change, reinforcing the values of empathy and responsibility that we strive to instil within our school.
Links have been made with the local care home.
The Ethos group have taken part in a Prayer Space activity with the residents. The children and residents painted flowers, that have specific meanings, on pebbles. The pebbles are now displayed in the care home garden. The children then wrote prayers for each flower:

The Ethos group have also read their favourite stories to the residents.
The Ethos Group held a bake sale to support Turkey/Syria following the earthquake.
Children in the Ethos Group felt that raising money for the families affected by the Turkey/Syria earthquake was a worthy cause to support and decided to raise money for this through a cake sale. Donations of cakes were given by families and staff and these were then sold by our Ethos Group governors and children. We were overwhelmed with donations of cakes meaning we were able to host a second cake sale the following week with both events raising collectively £429.72.

Children in the Ethos Group held an afternoon tea in church for the people in the community. The children raised £117.50, which was donated to The Lily Foundation.

The Ethos Group made reindeer toffee jars and bracelets to sell at the Christmas Fair to raise money for school and church.
